“Mo” Farah (Mohamed Muktar Jama) is a highly accomplished British distance runner, that is double Olympic, European Athletics and World champion. He was the second man in history to win long-distance doubles at successive Olympics and World Championships, and recently became the first athlete to win three long-distance doubles at successive World Championships.
Mo Farah was born in Somalia, but moved to the United Kingdom as a child at age of 8. With 7 global titles he become the most decorated person in British athletics history, and was the first British athlete to win 2 gold medals at the same world championships. His 5 gold medals at the European Athletics Championships make him the most successful individual athlete in championships history.
He was European Athlete of the Year in both 2011 and 2012, and has been the British Athletics Writers Association British Athlete of the Year five times. Mo Farah was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2013.
