Hafthor Julius Bjornsson is an Icelandic professional stongman, actor, and former professional basketball player. He is best known for his Game of Thrones role as Ser Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane.

Hafthor started his career as a basketball player, but ended his career when he was 20 years old because he suffeed a severe knee injury. In the following years he participated in several strongman competitions with great success, having won some of them.

In 2013 Hafthor was cast as “The Mountain” in the popular TV Show from HBO, Game of Thrones. He participated on seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the show.
